Just had an MRI to r/o cauda equina. I know it's *very* rare but the MRI technician who asked questions before the test asked more probing questions after the MRI, e.g. so tell me more about your symptoms, where, etc? He had a very sober expression on his face. I have the images in hand and can kinda see some effacement upon the spinal cord - or so I think. Reminds me of waiting on biopsies in the old daze.
Great for an incipient hypochondriac. Am gonna see a double-feature tonight, hopefully with enough violence, marital arts, gratuitous sex, and car chases to escape. Allan

I know how unsettling those probing questions can be. The MRI tech last week asked me three times if I had reinjured my back.
When will the report be written up? Waiting for results is awful - is it possible for you to get the report tomorrow even though it's Sunday? Good Luck and let us know the results.

Hi Allan,
I know that feeling well of people popping unsettling questions which rest at the back of your mind. Do come back and tell us what the report says best, Alastair

Thanks, and glad you guys understand what waiting's like. They printed out the MRI report, didn't have a radiololgist on Saturday read 'em, and they're right by me to be seen this Wednesday by the doc. Of course, me the expert read them...
(Can you imagine autumn's around the corner? Wish I were back east soon..)

Saw a likeable Dr. Regan w/the cool physiatrist Dr. Apostle. Am in the clear. Possible explanations why S-5 dermatome registers pain include nerve root pain (from disc herniation) and disc annular fibers. Drainage of nucleus material not enough to cause scar formation apparently.

I guess sometimes it comes down to a process of elimination. It's nice to see that CE has been eliminated. Regan has an impressive resume.

It is nice getting to the "root" of problems.
Think there's conflicting evidence if the goop in the disc can cause scar tissue or not; w/research later if have time. LA seems the place to be for spinal problems. Best, Allan
