Oh I relate to feeling bad about weight as I used to be very fit in the old daze.

I started my break at 180 lbs. and hoped to lose 12 lbs. by counting calories/portion control. So where am I now? 179 lbs. and embarassed how my belly sticks out and feel like a whale at the swimming pool.

So now I'm serious and will rely on this stuff/meals when at home as nothing else works; this'll be portion control and compliance is the key - not to deviate or "get creative" at all:

Costly, yes. Being chubby in one's 50's is costlier. This is what Cedars-Sinai's ChubbyClinic uses.

Good luck, ans

I'm pushing to get down to the weight that the doc was happy with in May, I was 35 lbs overweight at that time and he said it was no problem. I've lost 10 lbs so far this week, but of course, I know that is mostly water and what is normal afterwards...

I was successfully losing weight prior to my "rut" this summer so I'm feeling pretty good right now that I am back on the mental track as far as weight loss goes.

Don't let anyone sneeze near you or you'll be overweight:

Best kept secret: cookbooks for diabetics! Lots of tasty dishes which are low cal, low carb and portion-controlled.

For those who can psychologically handle cooking, this is an excellent idea!

Weight issues--even HERE they follow us!!

If it's any consolation, I've fought this all my life and found that only intense sport and being really careful keep me in check. If I don't move, I gain 5 lbs looking at a picture of a cake...

I've gained close to 15 kg (do the math and multiply by 2.2) since this cervie stuff started in 2003, and while it's not an issue for surgery, it DOES add another rock to the load I (and you all) already bear with the spine issues.

So, seeing all you people on DIE-ts here, I've decided to join you.

We can motivate and encourage each other on more than spine issues I think??

(off to throw out that pot of Nutella--after I sniff it one more time)

Interesting is that when my back is out and I'm unable to move much, I don't want to eat much at all.. I lost 4 lbs in nearly 2 weeks just because I was hurting too badly to cook (or move much) and didn't have too much in the fridge in the way of appealing food.. plus I haven't kept high fat content munchies around for a long long long time (since my 20's)...

Er!Trace,
although having a good BMI is a good thing, if you're having is a cervical operation, I want think that having a perfect BMI would apply to you? Unless you've got a very fat neck -- -- -- lol

Cheers,
Alastair
