The legalities, contradictions, and ramifications of driving while medicated are interesting, potentially creepy, and baffle me. If my search isn't revealing, I'll consult with an attorney.
I spoke to my pharmacist in LA who's very well-informed. I note that on the bottle of Vicodin it say to use care when driving or w/heavy machinery; however, nothing about no driving. She said that if you appear glazed, then an officer can get you for driving under the influence. But what if you have a confused/startled expression? Could you be hauled over, given a blood test, and given a DUI?
And I read elsewhere that w/some meds. if you get into an accident, it could be your fault regardless. So I guess insurance wouldn't pay.
Even lightweight Ultram/tramado might be risky since it's somehow pharmacologically similar to the opiate family.
This may seem like needless worry but many here are on hard-core medications.

Severe, extensive DDD, considered inoperable by Dr. Regan, Lauressen, & some guy at UCLA. Severe foraminal stenosis (guess they can't operate!) and some spinal cord compression that Lauryssen would fix if gets outta hand.
