A while ago on this forum, someone suggested using xe.com to wire large sums in Euros. From their website, they do appear to have a much better exchange rate than my bank.

Can anyone else vouch for them, that they are a legit company? Appreciate any information

Hi Sharman,

I used them in 2003. The transaction was seamless and the rate was the best I could find anywhere at the time.

xe.com is the only way to fly.
make sure you get all setup right away as it takes about 3 days to complete account.

Guys, thank you very much for the quick response. I guess, if xe.com were a bunch of clever internet thieves, I could see them planting one cheerleader on this forum, but two cheerleaders does give me some comfort.

Did either of you do anything to check them out? They do seem to have a spotless record on Better Business Bureau's website.

We used them in 2005, and they have been used by several patients, including Canadians to wire transfer money.......easy, safe, best rate around with confirmations of tranfers....

As an American wire transfers were very foreign to me, then I discovered its the way many people in the world handle their money. Now, on this end, I find cheque writing to be obsolete,(except for bank cheques or money orders) and don't like using credit or debit cards. I'm the odd one using cash nowadays for basic purchases, and wire transfers, (even interstate) for larger sums.
