There isn't a good answer on this. The sheathing material isn't going to prevent breakdown of the M6 if the ADR ultimately turns out to have design flaws or is misplaced. Metal on metal disks or ceramic on metal disks would do better with wear but have no shock absorbancy and, if wear particles do form, those wear particles would be bioactive, not inherently inert like most polymers are.

I just put in a call to Spinal Kinetics. They are just down the road from me. I want to set up a tour next week. And if I don't hear back from them, I will just show up at their door uninvited. I'm about to put six of those dang things in my body. If I were them, I would imagine I would be delighted to show me around and answer all my questions.

I will ask this question too when I go there.

At time of surgery: 5 yrs MAX before ending up in wheelchair.
Clavel found L5-S1 partially fused. Had to cut it apart to put in M6.
Please excuse brevity - SEVERE carpel tunnel.

Default New and looking for advice

Hello. this is my first post. I am considering to have the PEEK spacer. I would love to hear any feedback, positive or negative regarding this procedure. I'm not sure if this is the correct website I should be on but it seemed like a place I could find answers. I've been under so much stress and pain trying to get this resolved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you,Lisa

You have come to the right place Lisa. Relax, take a deep breath. You are among friends here. This is such a wonderful community of people here. You are welcome.

If anyone here can tell you what a PEEK spacer is for sure, it would be Slackawater. He is the master of all searches. But it looks to me to be part of a fusion.
