Yes, I did set off the metal detector at the airport in Dulles.

Not any of the walk-throughs, but both of the wands when waved around my throat/neck). Good thing I had my new "Arthroplasty Passport" with me!

I would think that your scar would be your passport!

Any other cervices set off metal detectors? I never have as a lumbie with 2 Charite's. Other lumbies with more than 2 set them off?

I have gone through about 12 airport screenings since my surgery and have not set any of them off. I do however work for the postal service and one time when I went to our headquarters building in Washington DC, they set the detectors very sensitive and yes I did set it off. The set this detectors at different levels bassed on what code the country is in.

Hey,just think, you have another great story to share about your ADR surgery. My 87 year old grandmother had a hip replacement and she set off the detectors and had to be searched. I couldn't help but laugh.

Well a few months back I was traveling with a couple of people from work and when we were getting ready to go through the screener, they asked the usually question about metal, coins in your pockets and she says, does metal in your back matter because she has alot of that. She was only fooling around and they just looked at me and watched as I went through the screener, and no I did not set it off. I do however also carry my card with me just in case.
