Just fantastic and great that his occupation requires no lifting.

He owns a farm and is lifting the same feedbags he lifted before his surgery.

He feels great and recovered completely.

Amazing.

Why did he need the surgery? No fusion?

He was stumbling, oh his way to paralysis. Dr. registered in him hospital and did a lami the next day. He would have been paralyzed or worse by next day. Saved his life and function. He feels very lucky and is doing quite well!

Too many levels for fusion.

I'm amazed at the 'too many levels for fusion" My NS recommends 3 level lami and fusion for cord compression. I should have asked why fusion.I wonder what will keep your friend's neck stable. Perhaps his discs are all wonderful?

A laminectomy is removal of the lamina, the central part of the spinoue process, the bone at the back of the spinal cord. It opens up space for a compressed cord. For a way better explanation just google laminectomy.
