Should you be going to Europe and you are diabetic, and having to inject insulin, then ensure you get a note from your doctor to validate the carrying of a syringe and needles.
We have just had a passenger in the UK removed from an airliner because they did not have a letter from their doctor stating that they were indeed diabetic and the reason for carrying the syringe Best, Alastair

It seems like that would apply to carrying any injectible medication and needles. The airlines can be called prior to traveling to find out what can be put in checked baggage. Just a thought.
