James,
I was actually told I might set them off, but tht might be bc of my fusion/adr combo. Not sure about straight adr. Better safe than sorry and my Dr. is giving me a note. He's not sure if I'll definitely set it off or not, so I'm definitely going to give myself some extra time these first few times.

I have a fusion and Maverick disc. Have flown once and was a bit disappointed nothing happened!
My surgeon supplies all his ADR patients with a card to carry stating you have an artificial disc which may set off the detectors. Cathy

I have a Charitte and was told I would probably set them off. I was given a little card that is signed by my DR and has the serial number of my disc and few other things on it. I will also give myself a little more time the next time i fly just to be sure.

I have a ProDisc, and it's titanium, so non-magnetic. You can even have MRI's. So, no, it won't set the detector off. My brace didn't even-not even the little hand-held ones they used when they patted me down (that was due to the fact that I was 2 days post op and they wheeled me thru the airport and security in a wheelchair-the chair would've set it off.) My mom has a 15 inch Harrington rod due to scoliosis and has for 20 years-it doesn't even set it off. Too deep inside, tho hers might be titanium too. (I got to hold one and it was really light.) Guess we all have different hardware!
