Many of you take care of your spouse who has been suffering from terrible pain. After hearing stories of delayed medical treatment from folks, I just wanted to remind ALL of the supportive family members that your support, love and attention is appreciated and needed. Please realize that your efforts go a long way to help patients. Keep up the good work!

Patients, how has your spouse helped you? This is your forum…tell us how we can help…or thank them here too.

Harrison, what a great posting, I think quite often we do take wives/husbands for granted when we are in a lot of pain. I know without my wife I would still be crippled and never have made the journey to Germany in 2002. The patience love and kindness given to me by my wife is beyond measure.

Behind every successful man -- -- -- is an exhausted woman
Best,
Alastair

Mine has supported me through years of pain and pain management. She had to deal with the last two years after my accident of watching me deteriorate to the state I was in pre-surgery. She had to deal with an accidental drug overdose on the plane to Germany, scared out of her wits in Amsterdam over my obnoxious behavior in a complete blackout, and subsequent hospitalization in Germany pre-surgery hooked up to oxygen and 3 I.V's to flush my system for 9 hours after landing. She supported me through the surgery and cared for me better than any nurse ever could. She has been with me through the difficult healing process since the surgery. God matched me with the perfect woman to tolerate me. I am humble enough to admit that alone we are nothing. God bless us for the spouse he gave us.

My husband is very much the 'don't tell me about it unless you want me to fix it' type. So, I gotta say that despite his frustration at not being able to 'fix' me, he's been very patient. I was already a spiney within weeks of meeting him, but I don't think he thought it would last past my first surgery (two weeks after the wedding). 8 years later, he's still here! As grouchy as I get when in pain and frustrated (and what spiney isn't?), it's great that he's stuck by me so much! There have, of course, been stresses, but he's still my best friend, and I couldn't ask for more! Thank you Wade!
