Default Severe pain from discogram

I am new here. Have had slight back pain for many years, mostly sciatic from driving long distances. This year I injured it apparently moving furniture. On July 17th I had a discogram. That was one of the most painful experiences of my life. It has been two weeks now and I can hardly walk from the pain. This much pain did not exist before the discogram. Has anyone else experienced this much pain from it?

I was told I needed to have two fused and one adr, L3 thru L5. I would also like to know if anyone has had any success with this done through the Texas Back Institute.

Default Yipes

Hi,

Welcome and sorry you are here I had a 3 level ADR done by Dr. Clavel in Barcelona Spain 3/14/2012. In the process of finding the pain genrerator I had a discogram and had severe pain that I had not had prior that lasted, I hate to say, almost a month and never really went back to normal until after I had the surgery although it certainly decreased and was easily treatable by about 3-4 weeks.

I don't know anything really about Texas, I am sure someone on this site will. I went to Europe for a number of reasons, the primary one being that I needed 3 levels treated L2-L5 and did not want a fusion. I am also allergic to nickel so I needed a disc not available in the US that is made of titanium (M-6) although it is made in California. Go figure

Good luck in your search for the best treatment for you. You might search the site for Texas Back Institute I know there are many people who are more familiar.

Laurie
