The Tour

Here's a lovely addition for your pain relief Tool Kit. * See below for more information about a Tool Kit

'The Tour' makes use of your breath for pain relief . We tend not to take much notice of our breath. However, your breath is a most useful tool for pain and stress relief and for bringing an element of peace and calm to your life. Best of all, it's drug free and always with you and available. Also, you don't have to do any work (you just watch it!) - and it's totally free of charge! What could be better!

Be aware that when you breathe -
- the in-breath brings fresh air into the body, revitalising your whole being, bringing new energy and strength
- the out-breath allows the release of old and stale air, and also allows the release of pain and tension.

For the tour

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position, legs uncrossed and hands not touching.

Concentrate on your out-breaths for a short while. On each out-breath, let go of tension.

Next, in your mind, travel slowly around your body, really becoming aware of each part. Relax and release one part at a time starting with your feet, then travelling up and around your calves, buttocks, stomach, chest, hands, shoulders, jaw and face, finishing with your eyes.
Take your time and feel each part of your body in turn gradually soften and release. With practice you can actually feel a release, a lengthening and relaxing of muslces in your body.

Imagine that on your-inbreath you breathe in healing energy, peace and tranquillity.
And know that, on your out-breath, you let go and relax, releasing pain and tension.

As you relax you feel a sense of peace and timelessness.
Take time to experience and enjoy this.

Whilst you are resting like this you will find your mind fills with thoughts and feelings. This is completely normal and happens to everyone. The trick is not to get 'hooked' up on them, just note the thoughts and feelings and let them go, gently bringing yourself back to your relaxed state.

Use this 'Body Tour' every day if you can. Plan to set aside a quiet 10 minutes just for yourself to give pain relief and to nurture your inner peace.

You may find it easier to relax if you listen to a CD that has been especially written for people in pain. For more information on my own CDs (images below) please go to the website, www.painsupport.co.uk where you can buy on-line - or contact me. Now available to everyone, UK and worldwide!

This is good stuff, thanks Sir A. For people that are facing recovery, you may care to look deeper into breathing techniques for healing, e.g. Tai Chi and especially Qigong (kind of like medical Tai Chi).
